As I scroll through my Twitter feed today, an intriguing voice captures my attention. Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, popularly known as @theliverdr, consistently shares insightful content, challenging myths in the medical domain. Drawn to his knowledge, I start following him, often finding his posts enlightening.
One particular post catches my eye — a video of Dr. Fauci discussing truth. Compelled, I pose a question to Dr. Philips, trying to highlight an alternative perspective. Expecting a healthy debate, I’m taken aback when Dr. Philips responds with sharp condescension. Instead of mutual understanding, our conversation abruptly hits a wall. You can read the whole story here.
Months later, today, someone DMed me on Twitter a tweet from Live Law, which takes me by surprise. Dr. Philips’s account has been suspended due to allegations from Himalaya Wellness Corporation. They claim he made defamatory remarks about their products. This revelation leaves me with mixed feelings. Although our recent interaction left a sour taste, I can’t help but wonder if Dr. Philips might be onto something. Should Himalaya Wellness Corporation’s products undergo closer scrutiny?
A Bengaluru Civil Court has passed an ex-parte interim injunction order to X (formerly known as Twitter) to suspend the account of Dr Cyriac Abby Philips who operates the widely popular X handle ‘@theliverdr‘.

Regardless of our digital clash, I bear no ill feelings toward Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips. He won’t help if my anxiety will consume my liver. lol. Instead, the bigger truth becomes evident to me: genuine dialogue’s immense value and the risks of allowing ego to overshadow it. Dr. Philips’s approach in our discussion might have been brusque, but this doesn’t necessarily discredit his claims against Himalaya Wellness products. It brings to mind a thought: “The messenger can be flawed, but the message may still be vital.”
I would say in the given situation that it’s essential for institutions like the courts to ensure truth and transparency prevail. Given the allegations against Dr. Philips and his suspension, it seems only fair that the Himalaya Wellness Corporation too faces scrutiny. It’s crucial for the court to mandate an audit of their liver products to validate their effectiveness. This would not only uphold consumer trust but also ensure that such products are rooted in scientific evidence, rather than pseudoscience. Such a step can bridge the gap between traditional and modern medicine, ensuring that claims are verifiable and products deliver on their promises, benefiting the larger community.
Also, I know many those who hate Dr. Philips from the “holistic community” will now be feeling happy, which would be really below taste again; to laugh at someone’s adversarial situation.
As I near completing this short reflection, a realization dawns on me. In our vast digital world, it’s tempting to dismiss or even block dissenting voices, whether that is Dr. Phillips blocking me or X blocking Dr. Phillips via a court order. Every perspective offers a chance for growth and understanding. It’s crucial to distinguish the message from its deliverer and discern the broader picture amidst the chaos. It isn’t about proving a point but embracing the potential for collective growth and enlightenment.
